Group History

The 1st Eastleigh Scout Group is one of the oldest Groups in the UK and we celebrated our centenary in 2009. The Group has been on the same site in Chamberlayne Road since just after the first World war.

There have been three different buildings on the site. The “Early History” page includes a note drafted in the early 1960’s that gives a good overview of the early history of the Group and the first two building on the site.

In the early 1960s when the “Old Scout Hut” was first new a history of the Group was recorded by the leadership team. The following link takes you to a copy of that record.
